Octoberfest Celebration: Mark Your Calendar! đ
Our Oktoberfest Event was another big success! It couldnât have happened without the many hands who baked, crafted, knitted, donated, and planned behind the scenes. A heartfelt thank you to our generous local supporters â Imperial Cars, Vandervalk Farm & Winery, and Quissett Hill Farm â for their beautiful basket donations. Weâre also grateful to our community partners: Troop 12806 Mendon Girl Scouts, Troop 1 Mendon Boy Scouts, Thimble Pleasures Quilt Guild, and the Mendon Lions Club.
Special thanks as well to all the Senior Center program groups who created themed baskets that made our raffle such a hit. The proceeds will directly support programs for Mendonâs seniors â thank you all for helping us make a difference!

25th Annual Mendon Town Boat Race
The competition was fierce, but in the final seconds the Douglas Battle Axes pulled ahead to claim first place! While we finished a close second, the event was still a tremendous success for the Mendon Senior Center.
Led by Phil Cieply and Peg Nogueira, our boat-building crew poured creativity, teamwork, and many hours into crafting a vessel that was both accessible and seaworthy enough to brave the âhigh seasâ of Lake Nipmuc. Once construction was complete, our cracker-jack decorating team transformed it into a casino-themed steamship, painted in bold red and blackâa real head-turner on race day.
On the big day, our team was cheered on by a lively crowd of Seniors and townspeople, whose encouragement made all the difference. While the scoreboard shows second place, in our hearts we know our team were the real winners.
A big thank-you to everyone who constructed, rowed, painted, cheered, and made this yearâs race one for the history books. Hereâs to smooth sailingâand maybe a rematch next year!
